I want to talk about the advantages of MK-300 first:
1. Small! very small!
2. It can work with only two AA batteries, instead of the 4 ordinary flashes;
3. Huge, clear and intuitive display screen;
4. The function of the button is clear and the operation is simple. A novice can fully master the method of using it within 5 minutes;
5. Excellent battery life and satisfactory recycling speed.
The battery compartment of the MK-300 can hold 2 batteries. In our test, 2 fully charged ENELOOPs can support about 200 flashes. The recycling time at full light output does not exceed 3 seconds at the beginning, and the battery power will increase later. The decline will slow down to a maximum of about 8 seconds. This number means that when using the MK-300, you only need to carry 4 AA batteries to support one day of ordinary photography.
Although it is not a dot matrix screen, the fonts are very clear and the effect is first-rate. I have to admit that I like this screen very much.
Working mode, effective distance scale, output, remaining power. There is no ambiguity. This blue backlit display provides enough detailed, but not puzzling information.
MK-300 can switch between 3 working modes supported by it through the MODE button on the fuselage:
1.M, manual mode
2. RPT, repeat flash(Strobe)model
3. TTL, automatic mode
ON/OFF is a switch, PILOT is a test light button, TIMES and Hz are buttons to control the number of light-emitting times and the light-emitting frequency in RPT mode. A function of MK-300 corresponds to a button, there is no one-key multi-purpose situation, the meaning is very clear. At the same time, the MK-300 also has a quick dial to adjust the output or change the flash exposure compensation.
The MK-300 we have is a Nikon version, and the metal hot shoe feet correspond to Nikon''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''s i-TTL. We have tested the following 3 representative models of Nikon: the older D80, the newer D5200 and P7100, MK-300 can be perfectly supported.
The lamp head of Metco MK-300 has a fixed focal length, but Metco officially did not provide the specific parameters of MK-300. Through actual measurement, we found that the coverage area of ??MK-300 is about 18mm corresponding to DX frame and 28mm for FX frame. .

Our measured luminous index is aboutGN18@18mm—— You must think this number is too small! But please note that this number is measured under the condition of 18mm, although it cannot be converted, but compared to Canon 270EXGN27@50mmOr Nikon SB400GN21@18mmThis number is not low. In most cases, including night and indoors, as long as you are not shooting stadiums or group photos, this power is not usable.

In fact, before Meike MK-300, no domestic flash has such a positioning. The flash can be upgraded through the USB interface to avoid incompatibility with the new body, and it is also possible to add some new functions. The shortcomings are also obvious, the public upgrade program is easy to be decompiled, thereby revealing some implementation methods of the flash.
