X-USB DoP settings
content:
1) Introduction to DoP;
2) Setting of Foobar2000;
Introduction:
X-USB shipped after 2018 supports DoP output.
DoP, the full name is (DSD over PCM), which means to encapsulate the DSD digital signal into a PCM signal, and use the PCM signal transmission framework to transmit! The advantage of this is that the S/PDIF signal system can be used to achieve DSD transmission! It is not to convert DSD signal into DSD signal and then transmit!
Therefore, the optical and coaxial output of X-USB supports DSD output!
Note:
The DSD supported by fiber coaxial is DSD64, which is a sampling rate of 1bit/2.8224MHz! The corresponding PCM signal is 24bit/176.4kHz!
Specific settings:
This article uses Foobar2000 as the player example. Users need to install Foobar2000 and the plug-ins needed to play DSD in advance!
If not, you can find the corresponding software on the website:
Foobar2000 main program: http://foobar2000.org/download
Foobar2000 ASIO plugin: http://foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_out_asio
DSD playback plug-in: https://sourceforge.net/projects/sacddecoder/files/foo_input_sacd/
1)set up“ File -> Preferences -> Output -> Device -> ASIO: foo_dsd_asio”
2)set up“ File -> Preferences -> Output -> ASIO -> foo_dsd_asio -> USB DAC ASIO ->DoP Maker 0x05/0xFA”
After the setting is complete, you can play DSD music, but at this time, X-USB displays 176.4kHz instead of DSD64. This is because DoP is transmitted in PCM format, but its content is DSD signal!
Note:
When playing DSD, the Windows system volume and player volume must be adjusted to the maximum! Otherwise, the sound played by the player is noisy. If you want to control the volume at this time, you can only control the volume of the DAC or amplifier!
